1. Make a new image, size should be at least 300 by 200, and Background Contents set as Transparent.
2. First start out by changing, layer 1, your beginning layer's name to "background" and filling it with black (#000000) using the Paint Bucket Tool (G).
3. Now for some text, make sure the text color is white and the font can be whatever your heart desires! Mine says "AURA". Note: Where you place the text within your work space will determine where the light casts.
4. You don't have to do this step but it's a nice thing to know when you are working with shapes and text and want to add some customization. Duplicate your text layer, and go Layer --> Rasterize --> Type. This will make the text as if it were an image, you will notice you can no longer edit the text with the Type Tool. If you skip this step, when applying a filter to a non-rasterized layer a pop-up window will come up and ask you if it is ok to rasterize the layer.
5. Next go Filter --> Blur --> Radial Blur... Set the amount to 100, blur method to Zoom, and the quality to your liking, the better the quality the slower it renders.
6. Hit Ctrl+F several times to repeat the filter (I hit it 7 times). Now you should have something like...
7. You can stop at the above step, but if you want to add a nice bright glow, duplicate your background layer and Filter --> Render --> Lens Flare... Set the lens flare to 105mm, position the lens flare in the middle of your image so you are not cutting of any part of it and click OK.
8. Finally move the Background copy layer so it is the top layer, change the Blending Mode to Color Dodge, and now you can move your lens flare to where you would like it.
